Services

So it seems that nowadays nearly every airline is ticketless meaning once you have booked your flight you are normally then sent an email confirming your booking and this then acts as your ticket.

You then take the booking confirmation to the airport and hand to the check-in desk staff.  Some airlines allow you to check in anything up to 7 days prior to your flight actually departs where you can also print off all the boarding passes for all passengers saving you time at the airport when you arrive.

It must be much harder now for local travel agents who offer travel advice and bookings for local businesses as I am sure many of them are now booking their flights direct with the airline as it’s just as easy for them to do it as the travel agent.

Unfortunately this means that many travel agents have probably seen a drop in sales therefore possibly a drop in staffing levels too as not so many people are needed behind the desk or their courier services by delivering the tickets to local companies prior to travel.

It’s great that the internet does make booking things much easier but unfortunately I think it has taken away people’s jobs and responsibilities.
